Hi everyone, and welcome! 🎶
I’m the Traveling Troubadour, aka Nicholas Tamagna, a countertenor, baroque opera specialist, and passionate interpreter of historical and contemporary music. But I am also a linguist speaking 4 languages, who enjoys history, linguistics, etymology, and more. I travel a great deal and love to share my experiences, and have found traditional social media doesn’t allow me to express my experiences in a way that reflects what I want to say. If you’ve followed my work—whether through my performances, recordings, or my festival projects (live or digitally) — you know that I love exploring the intersection of tradition and innovation in music and learning and exploring cultures. I am also an activist, a staunch liberal, and will occasionally foray into politics where it intersects with my life, travels and work.
This Substack will be a place where I share:
🎠Behind-the-scenes stories from my performances and projects
📖 Insights into baroque opera, vocal technique, and historical performance. Providing resources also for fellow singers and students
🎼 Reflections on music, artistry, and the evolving classical landscape
📰 Updates on my festival, upcoming concerts, and special events
I am also exploring some topics and hoping to be publishing some more long form writing in the future. Stay tuned here for the developments.
I’m excited to build a space where we can dive deeper into music, storytelling, and artistry together. Feel free to subscribe, share, and join the conversation!
More soon,
Nicholas (The Traveling Troubadour)
